Will an air pump be good to remove algae?

I have bought a new fish tank a couple of weeks ago it`s a nano style cube 80ltr tank and i think it`s plastic with a built in filter but it gets dirty very quickly it goes green, i`m not sure what causes this as i do regular water changes, am i right in thinking that i dont have an air pump which is why i`m having problems?
No an air pump doesn’t help to control algae. It is best just to do water changes more often to reduce Nitrates and/or phosphates which is a food source for algae.

Wow just read some of the answers. Yes reducing the amount of light can help to control algae. No adding an air pump will not encourage algae growth. In most cases algae is just a stage in the life cycle of an aquarium. Often you will see a big outbreak of algae in a new aquarium which will die back after awhile. This is because as an aquarium cycles it builds up large amounts of Nitrates which is algae food. Often the first algae is red or brown then it turns to green. If you get anything which requires algae as a main diet then you will need to let them do thier job and don’t clean anything but the front glass or object which they can not reach. If you insist on keeping a spotless tank they you will only serve to starve your cleaning crew.
