Wondering why you’re sales copy isn’t converting too well? It’s amazing that you can quickly help yourself just by learning about the easily avoidable mistakes that help to kill conversions. So, we can help eliminate some of these mistakes in your copy so that will be just one less thing that will hurt you.

Discussing product features will never produce the kind of positive results that can be achieved when the benefits are presented. It depends on the product because sometimes you have to present features, such as with software, but they need to be immediately turned into the benefits the end-user will experience. People respond more and stronger to benefits because they specifically address how the reader will personally benefit – it’s selfish self-interest at work. Before you can effectively talk about the benefits, you need to know all you can about the product, first. A good way to tackle this problem is to write a feature and immediately follow it with a benefit. If you can get good at that, then your benefits will be clear and strong, and then your copy will be a bit better for it. People will only buy if they can feel that the product or service will enhance their life in some way. Not having a strong headline is the biggest drawback of a sales copy. Obviously you need to command attention with it so people will stop and continue reading. You only have a couple of seconds to get the prospect interested and to make him/her reader further. So that is why all the professional copywriters spend a great deal of time on the headline. Some great copywriters will advise you to use the greatest benefit of your product in your headline, you know – hit them over the head with a hammer. If you write a headline that works well, then your job will be much easier.

Where you introduce your product price is very important in all sales letters. It really can make a difference with price placement because if you talk about it too early, people will leave before they read the most important parts of your letter. It would be natural to wonder about that, too. It just tends to bring down the interest level of the reader. The most optimum location to reveal your price is near the bottom after the product and benefits are introduced. One suggestion to avoid any possible writer’s block is to just write without judging your work, and keep in mind that all can be corrected, revised, or changed during the editing process. It’s most important that people don’t have to try too hard to find your price point for your product – so put it out there so it’s clear to see. We’ve read tons of sales copy, and a lot of times it appears that writers try to make the price less than noticeable.

One easy way to improve your copywriting is by not doing the simple and commonly known mistakes such as what we’ve discussed, today.
