condensation to drip down into the main parts of the system? We have quite a bit of water dripping down the center of the unit onto the blower housing as well as the elec. connection housing. We can dry everything up, completely, let it set, fill the drip pan up with water over and over, it drains fine, no drips at all, You can do this over and over. Once you turn the system on after it runs for around 45 mins. to a hour, the water starts dripping from inside the coil at the base, down on to the blower fan. The coil is above the blower, I suppose making this a ‘down draft’ system. Using a mirror, we can see that condensation is forming all along the outside of the pan just about all the way around its base, then dripping down in to the system.
No. A crack in your coil would release gas. The water is humidity being stripped from the air as it is conditioned through your coil. You need to have adequate drainage from your air handler to prevent the water from dripping. Be sure the drain is not clogged.
