How long from sprouting to flowers?
Referring to zinnias, marigolds, daisies (shasta), and lavender..
I can get them to sprout easily(in about 3 days) and they have their two cotyldons(or however u spell it) and starting second leaves, but its been weeks(nearly 7 alltogether) and they seem just the same. Their healthy and all , about 1″-2″ high but they seem like they are just ‘stuck’ there. I can’t tell any difference in growth from one week to the next. How long does this stage last? Are they concentrating on something else like root systems?
Yeah, it is pretty warm here…high 70′s – 80′s…actually this weekend though it may get down to 55 for the low..brrrr! Otherwise, its mostly just spring or summer here
It’s only Feb. All of the plants you listed are warm weather bloomers, they will take some time to mature. You can speed up their growth if you can grow them in a greenhouse, or a large terrarium, you can build one out of 2×4′s for the frame, and some thick clear plastic poly sheet. Make sure that the plants are covered on all sides and the top, this will trap in the heat from the sunlight, it will also produce condensation so you won’t have to water as much. We used this to start our tomato and pepper plants in before we planted our spring garden when I was a kid.
