I am looking for a way to embelish some worned wooden dining chair?
I have this set of 6 very plain light colored wood chairs. They got left outside most of this past summer (in the Arizona sun!) and are now lightly cracked and discolored. Functionnal, but not esthetic.
I want to make them look nice, but not sure how. I can sew, altough am no expert, but don’t know where to find instructions on how to make cushions. I also thought about painting them, but I am worried it’ll look tacky.
Any advice?
Since they’re already worn and cracked, varnishing them may not turn out too well. I would suggest to go for a shabby sheek look. Paint them with flat-satin finish white/off white colored paint. Then distress them by using sand paper etc. Simple cushions in a simple unbleached cotton would be nice, or another color or print that goes well with the room you plan to put them in.
