Whats the best kind of metal for making a mini bike muffler?
I want to do stainless but to much unless its around 30 but nowhere to find it. I don’t know if steel is what i want to use because of rust and corrosion but maybe galvanized steel if that’s what the original metal is used for a small engine muffler. Whats is most small engine mufflers made out of? Any other thoughts of what kind of metal I should use for making a mini bike muffler? Also where can I get it? If there a good online store I’m willing to buy online.
If you go to a big farm implement store, you will find all sorts of mufflers that you wouldn’t have to make yourself. We have a big Farm&Fleet place near us that has a bunch of mufflers for all kinds of engines. When we were kids we built a minibike, I remember the muffler we had was really cheap and it screwed right into the exhaust port flange with a wrench. It looked a little like a can of Red Bull with threads on one end and an opening on the other.
If you fabricate one, just use steel exhaust tube and paint it with header paint when you’re done. That should keep it from rusting pretty well. They sell internal baffels that you can slide in and screw in place.
As far as attaching it to the engine? It depends on the kind of engine you are talking about.
