Why does Hydroponic Farming Need Smaller Space for Growing?

Almost all of these plants are supported by a nutrient solution that is given through an irrigated system.
Since the plants do not thrive on soil, the nutrients help in sustaining the goodness of each plant. The traditional way saw the harvest of a plant occurring just once or twice a year. Thanks to hydroponic farming, the case is different here. Since the harvest produced is not limited to one season, fruits and vegetables can be obtained all year round. Another advantage of hydroponic farming is that the whole farming process consumes only a little space therefore leaving extra space for other plants to be planted. Today even households use this method for their farming in their very own backyard. Most countries that use hydroponic farming to harvest fresh fruits and vegetables see a boost in their food production. This is a great opportunity for countries that sell the excess to neighboring countries.
Hydroponic farming can be done in two ways. One is the usage of a medium culture and the other is the solution culture. When a medium culture is chosen, farmers need to use mediums such as sand or gravel, etc to handle the whole system. For the solution culture, it is usually a nutrient solution that is used. Plants grown in soil are prone to soil-borne diseases. Since hydroponic farming does not require soil and use only a little water, farmers are safe from this problem.
