Maintenance Tips For Outdoor Gas Grills
You may love cooking outdoors and use a gas grill for this; if so the following tips will show you how to look after your grill so that it lasts much longer.
- The flexible gas hose should be checked each time you use the grill to make sure there are no cracks or other damage. You should buy a new hose if you find any damage.
- It would be a good idea to familiarize yourself with the basic maintenance tips that are provided in the instruction manual.
- You will have to check the metal tubes found under each burner. You may find there are spiders and other insects in these tubes and unless you get rid of these they could cause a blockage.
- If your gas grill has aluminum products, it is better to avoid using abrasive cleaners, oven cleaners, scouring pads or metal brushes to clean them. Just use dishwashing liquid instead with plastic cleaning utensils.
- Soak any removable parts of your grill in dishwashing liquid and hot water. If there is any grime built up you need to use a plastic scrubber or sponge to get rid of it.
- You can place the porcelain parts of the grill into your dishwasher or scrub them by hand with a wire brush.
- It is always better to replace the lava rocks of the outdoor gas grill every year with new ones. If this is not possible, at least boil them in soapy water to remove grime build up.
- Tape shut any of the gas openings in the grill and then give the rest of the grill a really good clean with hot soapy water. Hose down the grill after you have cleaned it with soapy water and then make sure you let it dry completely.
- It is a good idea to then rub down the grill with vegetable oil and any wooden parts should be wiped with linseed oil.
