Lawn mower manufactures usually put general use blades on mowers available for retail. Depending on the use, you should plan to sharpen your blade as often as once a month and plan to replace it once it becomes worn. The type of lawn mower blade manufacture is usually going to be the company that built the original mower though some aftermarket companies do offer great replacement parts as well; Replacement lawn mower blades are available for a variety of applications from standard factory replacement parts to special mulching blades – often called gator blades, high-lift blades, and even de-thatching blades.
The first place to look when shopping for replacement blades it to the original manufacturer of your mower. Top mower companies like John Deere, Lawn-boy, Snapper, and Honda build their lawn care systems from the ground up. In addition to standard issue replacement blades, these manufactures offer performance blades like gators and high-lift blades that have been specifically designed for their own mowers. Aftermarket brands like Oregon, Black and Decker, and Arnold also make great replacement and custom parts for a variety of mowers. Adapters and blade balancers are also available to ensure a proper fit for different brands of mowers.
