Fiberoptic Grass ( live plant)?
I was recently given a fiberoptic grass plant and was wanting to know if it could be dangerous to pets if swallowed. ( i know some plants are and some are not) I did research on it, and it said it could cause problems for humans but it never said anything about pets. I’m going to keep it out of my pets reach just in case (cat that loves to climb) but I was just wanting to know if anyone else had any more information on it.

Fiber optic grass is called Isolepis cernua and it has undergone several name changes. It was also Isolepis gracilis and Scirpus cernuus. This creates confusion when trying to look it up.
At any rate, I’ve searched on a ton of poisonous plant lists and do not see Isolepis or Scirpus listed. I did find it listed on some websites that offer it for sale and am wondering where they got the determination of it as a poisonous plant.

It seems that some of the species have medicinal properties. I am still not certain as to which species, if any, are poisonous. I’m quite stumped.
Try to find out the exact genus and species of the grass that you have. If you can get that, search again and see what results you get. If you can’t, then I suppose to err on the side or caution and hide it from your animals or get rid of it.
