You"ll find information on what to see and do, mixed in with the humorous tale of their travels-because no matter where they go, they will be laughing! In Search of a Mayan. The date alone seemed to be an indication of a mysteriously important quest. It was on January 11, 2010 (01/11/10) that we set out, headed for the Mayan Riviera, the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico. My partner, Tanya, and I were excited to find out for ourselves exactly what to expect in the year 2012. There seemed to be so much conflicting information in the world. We wanted the truth, and we planned to locate us a Mayan and ask! We left Albuquerque, and following a short layover in Denver, we were on our way to Mexico. We arrived at the Cancun airport at about 4pm, and were picked up by pre-arranged transportation and taken to our all-inclusive hotel on the beach. Our driver was obviously Mexican, (we saw no Mayan features in him at all), but once inside the hotel, we were pretty sure that the man behind the desk had a Mayan nose. We pulled out our reference book and compared his features to the photos in the book. After some debate, we decided to just ask him. "Alfonso, are you Mayan?" Unfortunately, he was not, but we were not deterred. We’d only just gotten to the Mayan Riviera, and there was plenty of time to find our Mayan. |
