always read the manufacturers instructions for the particular model you have
have the correct PPC personal protective clothing before starting it up ear protection, gloves ,goggles etc. make sure you have the correct mixture ratio of oil to fuel, the ratio is often printed on the hedge trimmers fuel cap. fuel is the greatest measure you can buy a oil pot to measure your oil out then put that into a 5 litre can top up with petrol.always check the blade is ok before starting no obstructions stuck in the blade no loose bolts switch on the machine ,prime the machine by pressing the fuel bubble/primer 3 to 5 times put on choke place machine flat on a hard surface, holding machine firmly with one hand pulling the starter cord with the other keeping your body behind the blade . never stretch with the machine above shoulder height make sure you are safe and others around you if cutting a high hedge preferably purchase an extendable trimmer or purchase a bench platform for cutting hedges 8 to 9 feet in height
