correct indoor hydroponics grow lights?
thinkin 400 watt mh and hps lights. what brand, what light color, where do i get them? 6 plants
I use only a HPS, and it is suitable for “needy” plants such as tomatoes, peppers, etc. Many people like the idea of being able to switch from MH and HPS, but I have never found it necessary.
Even though MH has the blue spectrum which encourages compact growth, and HPS with the red spectrum for flowering and fruiting, I find that I don’t need the MH. Whether I am putting an existing plant into growth, or a new seedling, a few days at 20/4 to 24/0 and a week or two at 18/6 is generally fine, and then switch to 12/12 for flowering/fruiting. I actually have a couple of plants that are four years old and I put them through four cycles per year.
Check out Future Garden (Long Island, NY) (link below) — I trust them implicitly, and they have dual and single systems.
I also just picked up a couple of 400 watt HPS units from an outfit that sells on e-Bay — htgsupply — they have an excellent reputation, maintain your privacy, and overall I have been very pleased with them (they’re out of PA).
