The Latest LED Backlit TV Technology For A Better Picture
When it’s finally time to get rid of your old television, you’re going to have to do some research to find the right TV set that will fit your viewing pleasure. If it has been some time since you last looked into a TV set, you may be confused by the different acronyms that refer to the types of television sets. There are all types of TVs including Plasma, LCD, DLP, and LED TVs. Purchasing a new television will also allow you to give up that bothersome converter box as all the latest televisions are HD and digital ready. Nowadays, you can find many different LCD and plasma TV for cheap, but if you want the latest technology, you should look into LED TVs.
In LCD televisions, earlier models used fluorescent tubes as backlighting. Since these lights are on all the time, these screens do not always produce the darkest of black colors. The light leaks to the screen surface even if the TV sets was attempting to project deep black. Fluorescent light has limitations on the number of colors that will show through the TV screen. This is likely due to the quality of fluorescent light and not the liquid crystal diodes, which can show unlimited colors. This is why fluorescent lighting can limits the number of colors shown on a television set, while LED lighting can offer a higher range of colors.
There are two ways LED lighting can be set up in a LED lit television. One is to have the LED lights along the edge of the TV screen and it is called an edgelit LED TV. Another is to have them behind the screen and this is called a backlit LED TV. If you are concerned about energy consumption, both the edgelit and backlit LED technologies use less energy than a fluorescent LCD or a plasma screen. The edgelit LED televisions cost less money and can also be very thin.
While shopping for these televisions, you will find that edge lit televisions are both thinner and less expensive than the back lit TV sets. If the sharpest deep dark black colors are what you are looking for, then you will want a back lit LED TV set.
If you don’t look around, you can pay up to two times as much for a LED backlit TV compared to a similar feature and size plasma or LCD TV. To find the best LED HDTV deals, be sure to compare the features and prices at your favorite store and also at the various online bargain shopping sites.
