Replace ceiling fan with standard light fixture?
I just have a really quick question regarding replacing a ceiling fan with a standard light fixture.
The ceiling fan is in my dining room, and only 1 switch controls it. You have to pull the string for the fan to come on. I removed the fan last night, and here is the wire situation: coming from the ceiling: 1 white, 1 pink, ground wires and then the black is capped off.
After some research I found where I can just hook my new light fixtures black to pink, white to white and ground to ground. I guess the pink is used for ceiling fans, but functions the same has if it were black? Can someone verify? I hooked it up this way, and it is working, but I don’t want to burn down my home.
If you remove the switch from the box, you should see a capped off black in there as well. It was run in case you used a separate switch for the light and fan. They make dual switches that fit in a single gang space, so the electricians ran it to the fan box. Leave the black capped and leave it the way you have it. You will be fine. Hope this helps.
