What can happen without a lightning rod?
There’s a thunderstorm approaching and our house don’t have any kinda lightning protection.
what could happen? How do I protect myself?
By the way: I run a radio station and it’s antenna is the highest object in the surrounding area.
The problem is it ain’t grounded/protected either and I can’t switch it off or unplug it as that would result in the station going off air.
You will want to avoid touching anything that is connected to plumbing, such as a faucet . Do not take a shower or wash your hands during a thunderstorm, as water conducts electricity and you could get fried if lightening strikes. Try not to touch your stove, washer, or other appliances. Unplug your computer and internet because they are easily damaged, and could conduct a lightening strike to you. Leave one television on (but try not to touch it) in case of important bulletins like tornado warnings. Unplug any additional televisions in case of power surge damage. Do not talk on a corded telephone.
Lightening ground rods are very inexpensive and easy to install. You should get one as soon as possible if you want peace of mind. Try your local home improvement store.
