If you wish to maintain our environment, planting trees is a positive step that you can take. And I don’t mean to simply go out once every year and plant a tree. I am proposing that you plant a tree about once every month or even once per week. The reason is because someone must make up for all of those who are utilizing our resources but don’t want to plant a tree for whatever reason.
Figures indicate that approximately 15 million trees are planted on Arbor Day. Hence annually, we have a shortage of about 5 billion trees. This situation continues to get worse.
A complete answer is called for that still encourages folks to plant trees but I would also propose the following. It could be made a legal requirement that anyone involved in cutting down trees must replace every one chopped down with two newly planted ones and this would go a long way to solving the problem.
We are going to have to continue to deal with this issue ourselves until there is the political willpower to make these changes. In reality, restoring the number of trees required is perfectly achievable. For instance, if only 10% of the people on Earth planted a tree once a month, it would cover the amount of trees that are felled every year. On average, that would be approximately 7 billion trees being planted yearly. For the number of trees we need to return to, an effective net gain of 1 billion trees will be the means to attain this goal.
Planting a tree is a way we can all save the environment. Keep in mind that we only need 10% of the people worldwide to make a commitment to this. It is up to you if you want to get involved.
