Ezzard Charles is certainly a strong choice for the Top 5. His career, especially after Sam Baroudi, would have you think otherwise. However, there was a time, when Robinson was at his best, that Charles was on par with Robinson and BETTER than the other un-noticed great, Charley Burley.
At 180, Ezzard Charles was the perfect fighting machine. If he doesn’t make the Top 5, he’s certainly in the Top 10. I place him a shade above Sam Langford.
He’s THAT good.
