Motion Drive Belt on Tractor ???
I just fixed the Motion Drive Belt on my Craftsman tractor
The belt was caught underneath the transmission pulley. I noticed it after the tractor would not move and it was rubbing under the pully.
My question is .. should the motion drive belt be loose?
the mower belt on the mower deck its tight around the clutch, but the transmission belt it much more loose.
It probably should be replaced soon anyway.
it is over 7 years old.

The mower deck has been removed.
the tractor is used for yard work and projects.
we use a John Deere zero-turn mower to cut the lawn.
Drive belts vary,not enough info but generally,when clutch is engaged(tractor being driven)belt will be snug/tight.When clutch is disengaged,belt loosens and slips on pulley ,allowing”drive” to disengage.In practice a spring loaded idler pully keeps excess slack out of belt,so it doesn’t come off pulleys.With years of use your belt may have become stretched beyond the idlers range of ability.
