Do i need a special kind of gravel to plant my ten gallon?
I have a ten gallon tank with plastic plants in it but I want real plants. I just have normal colored gravel the kind you buy at the petco. I want to plant some apontogens or something like that. do they need any special gravel? or any other plants like that.
some of the best plants for a lo-tech tank don’t require planting at all. you can put aponogetons in your gravel no problem. other plants i would recommend as starter plants are the anubias family, java moss, and java fern. you DON’T plant any of these because it will kill off the plant. you tie them to rocks or driftwood and drop them in.
plants are like fish — not everything is going to work in your tank. for some plants you will need a specialized hood and equipment for putting co2 in your water.
