How do I restore water pressure concerning a well pump when the pressure gauge reads zero?
The water pump is a shallow well pump and the pump is running, but the pressure gauge that is fixed to the pump reads zero. Is there a way that the problem can be corrected without buying a new pump?
It’s probably ” lost itts prime “. you’ll need to shut it off, remove the pipe plug, or the gage, in the top of the pump, fill it with water, replace the plug, and turn it on, with any luck, it will take the first time, however you may have to try it more than once.
depending on what kind of a pressure tank you have, …you might need to adjust the air volume in the tank, newer ones have a perminant air bubble in them, so you dont need to worry about it
the air in the tank is what gives you the water pressure, the pump fills the tank against the air bubble, and compresses it,…then the air pushes the water out when you open a valve
