Acer Palmatum ‘Atropurpureum’ ( Red Japanese Maple )?
1.How long does it take this plant to turn green from purple/red when you take it out of the sun and place it in constant shade?
And vice versa please?
2. How long does it have to stay in the sun for per day for it to remain purple/red?

those in shade are just not ‘bright red’…. they won’t go fully green, just turn a bronze-y green/red later in the summer, just before turning red again for fall…. I have three… one gets only early morning sun for about eight to eleven am….. one gets only late afternoon sun, prob four to six or so…. one has 11am to 4 pm…. all stay red for me in zone 7……except for the last one, which does the bronzing thing as the angle of the sun changes and takes it’s sun away sooner in late summer and fall….
for the best color, all day sun from morning to five pm would be great, with some shade to keep the plant cooler in the very hot summer afternoons…. especially in the warmer zones…. more northern zones than mine can take more sun as it doesn’t come with that withering heat….
this is the last one I spoke of…last spring….
