oil pouring out of riding mower air filter hose?
ok, so ive got an old snapper riding mower that has worked great until this spring when i tried to start it gas just came pouring out. So i got a carb rebuild kit, cleaned out all the gunk , put it back together and it started right up….and then no more than a few seconds after it started oil came pouring out of a hose that comes out of the engine and connects to the air filter.
(The air filter has the intake, which leads into the carb, but it also has this hose that runs from the filter to the engine. Sorry, im not clear on what this hose does or what its called.)
Now this happened while the air filter was actually off the mower entirely. So i put the filter and assembly back on and it just wont start at all, as if it cant get enough air in. and then when i take it off it starts, only for this oil to come gushing out of that mystery hose.

when the carb allowed gas to overflow into the engine the oil level rose above normal and now is blowing out the breather hose it runs to the carb(epa) to be burned so as not to polute. or you overfilled the oil! if the oil has gas in it you need to drain it before running it as the gas dilutes the oil and will cause engine damage drain and refill with new oil this can also happen when you turn the mower upside down or on its side. if this persists the breather assy may need to be cleaned or replaced (the thing that the hose runs to on side of engine)
