generator brake down?
i want to make my won generator, and i already have a motor, but i need to figure out how to make it run my house…. any one who has info and a brake down or info and where i can get some parts?
i have riding mower parts and other auto parts, but i just don’t know how to build id.
…Most of the people think because a electrical motor that spins fast enough will generate the electricity need it…
Does not work that way…
A Electric motor—Uses the voltage to spin… due to the magnets on the armature around the motor (generator uses electromagnets)… if you spin it fast you may produce voltage (therefore you have a different frequency if AC)…by cutting the magnetic field, but you have to turn it faster to produce the same voltage that uses to spin at “X” speed while applying voltage (due to the magnets over the armature). the main issue is that you have no control over the magnetic field to control your output…
A Electric generator—you normally apply (or holds a small static charge) a small amount of voltage and force to spin the rotor in order to generate electricity at specific frequency. It generates a magnetic field at the rotor cutting it at the stator; forcing the electron being push and/or pull generating AC/DC voltage according to the setup.

Generator breakdown…
needs a exciter field, to generate a controllable magnetic field (used to adjust the output voltage) a rotor turning by another force (normally an engine) the rotor has 3 parts the first windings “cut” the exciter field generating AC at the rotor, the “filter” done with diodes to produce DC voltage feeding the last part of the rotor.. This one creates a bigger electromagnetic field that is cut by the stator, the stator generates the voltage you will use…a regulator will also be connected here to sense how much voltage it is producing and to adjust the exciter field… the rotor has to “match by windings” the speed that the engine is gonna be turning due to this is gonna be part to decide the frequency of the voltage… the stator is also match to the rotor to finish having the “perfect” 60HZ or 50HZ…
as you can see not easy but not impossible…
