Wine Glasses That Will Add Character To Any Dining Table
Before you think about setting the menu when having guest for dinner it is always helpful to think about the variety of wine that you are choosing. The shape of the glass can change influence the drinkers idea of the wine that they are drinking.
If you are not used to choosing the right type of wine to suit your meal. As a rule of thumb we would suggest that white wine suits fish, pasta, pizza and cheese dishes – possibly some chicken dishes, whereas red wine would better drunk with red meat such as beef.
There are two types of wine glasses these are:
White glasses
The white wine glass is generally composed of the parts: the bowl, stem and foot. White wine glasses allow for some oxidization and have a narrow bowl. Even though you may not think so there is a lot of variance in the types of white wine glasses that are available to buy and come in a variety different shapes and sizes. White wine drinkers will consider the thinner lip of the blown glass type variety of wine glass to be more acceptable to the palette. A wider bowl is preferred for white wines like buttery Chardonnay,.
Red wine glasses
Usually red wine glasses are quite large – very useful if you enjoy red wine! They also have round bowls at the base which allow the air to react with the wine more. The wine brings out an array of aromas that were dormant before this happening. A wide mouth of a red wine glass is suited to the wine drinker who enjoys ‘nosing’ the aroma of the wine whilst taking a sip from their glass.. The wine will breath easier when the drinker gives it a swirl. A typical red wine glass will be large and make it able to do this.
