Help me make a bridge out of dowel rods that spans 12 and a half inches long.?

Hello! I am doing a project and I need help with it. I need to make a bridge out of 4 dowel rods each a yard long. The bridge needs to span 12.5 inches and needs to withstand as much weight as possible. However, it is judged on efficiency, not on just how much it can withstand, so it needs to be as light as possible. Any tips, pictures, or past projects will get best answer.

An arch is the most efficient structure. Can you use any nails or glue? You will need to soak the dowels in water to make them pliable enough to bend into an arch shape and you will need a base support to prevent each arch from flattening out (thus the glue or nails).
